Big freakin' deal (Open)

Faye stood at up in the top floors of the building looking down at the rest of the world below her with disinterest. She had to resist the urge to sneer at all the simple minded people around her who were 'oo'ing and 'aw'ing at the scene.

Truely, had they never seen something from great heights before? It was all the same things they saw from down below, dirty streets, with dirty beggers who were too pathetic to get their lived together or at least clean up, but suddenly put some odd feet between them and that and these bafoons begin to believe it is something to gawk at.

Rolling her eyes, she hitched her purse higher on her shoulder and whirled around to leave.

Only to stumble into someone else.

The tall blonde pulled back in what could only be called disgust, frantically straightening out her clothing.

"If you've ruined this outfit," she almost growled, not bothering to look at the person she based into - doubtlessly they were below her notice, "You are so going to live to regret this day."

She was going up to see the view from the Empire State Building to see if she could spot any vampires when she noticed she ran into Faye.

"I am sorry." She said right away. "And hello by the way. Is somebody not having a good day?" She asked.

Faye stopped and felt like grimacing at herself. Of course, of all the people she could run into and be her usual charming self, it had to be one of the few people the young girl felt she actually had to be polite and respectful to.

"Hello, Headmistress," she said, not outright apologizing for her remark - Faye never apologized - but being a tad bit more humble, "I did not expect to see you... up here." She couldn't help but keep her distaste at the tourist attraction out of her voice.

She flipped her hair over her shoulder and gave her muttered response, "When am I ever having a good day?"

"I was doing something." She replied. "Why do you not like this place? It is a advantage for me, I can see danger." She asked, leaning against the wall.

Faye tilted her head to the side and took a glance at the window.

"I never thought of it that way," she admited slowly.

"It's all just so.... mundane," the girl sneered cast a sharp look at the people around her, "I am supposed to be impressed by the great heights? I can see that from my- I can see that sort of thing anywhere."

She grinned. "See?" She frowned a little when she fixed a slip up. "Yeah." She said slowly. "Some people don't have the chance though. We live in New York and get to see heights everyday if we want. They don't." She said.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Faye said moodily with an eyeroll, "Thankful for what you have understand others point of view - walk in there shoes."

She huffed and ran a hand through her hair.

"Even if they never saw something from high up the view isn't that amazing... you can just see more of it and things seem smaller. Big freakin' deal."

She rolled her eyes, and gave up. "O.k, I give up." She laughed. "Lets stop complaining about tourist and talk about something else." She grinned.

Faye reluctently gave the older woman a small smile.

But complainings what I do best, she thought ruefully to herself.

"What is going on at the school?" she asked. Although she would never admit it, Faye missed the lessons, "When are things to start again?"

"Parents doesn't want to send there kids to Alecto- because they want to keep there children safe themselves. As if a school full of adults and students with magical abilities can't protect children." She said angrily.

"Things will start up very soon. Just a few more days in fact." She answered.

"Well that's just," Faye paused a moment, stunned by the news, "idoitic!"

She scoffed angrily. It was news like this that really made her doubt the rest of humanity.

The young girl felt excitment at that news, "Really?"

She smiled, more like grimancing, at Faye. "Yep. I think that too." She paused. "Haha yes. You better be nice to the students though." She winked at her.

Faye felt a genuine smile pull at her features at the Headmistresses last comment.

"Aren't I always?" she asked with her most charming smile, knowing perfectly well that just the opposite was true.

She could hardly count the number of times she got in trouble last year for her... mannors.

She laughed, and shook her head. "Oh Faye. You crack me up sometimes." She gave her a grin. "Just don't scare the students, and you will be perfectly fine."

She gave the headmistress a small smile.

"I'll try not to," she said calmly, "Though I don't know if I can make any promises. Sometimes those fist years just are begging for a scaring."

Besides, she added to herself rather grimily, sometimes I just can't help it.

She just shook her head. Faye was a quite stubborn woman, long time ago she had tried to convince Faye to do stuff. Now she didn't bother.

"That is true. They are troublemakers- that is why I tend to give them detention with you." She grinned.

Faye grinned despite herself, "I always straighten 'em out... one way or another."

The only person she couldn't straighten out was herself. But then again she was beyond straightening. Broken beyond repair, and she was okay with that.

At least that was what she told herself.

She laughed. "Yes you do Faye. The students end up not coming to me anymore, complaining." She chuckled. She noticed a change in her mood for a brief second, but brushed it off.

"So how has been your summer?" She asked.

Faye tilted her head in modest awknowledgement of the comment.

"It has been," Faye paused to think about her summer, " well... dull. To be perfectly honest."

She nodded. "Mine was at the beginning too. Until the war started coming over here." She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair. "Being the headmistress of the only magical school in the world that gives education to special gifted wizards.... every ministry in the world wants to talk to me and offer their protection." She snorted and shook her head.

"We should talk more Faye, everytime I talk to you, it is a pleasant conversation." She gave a smile to the girl.

Faye gave a weiry smile, "That protection does not come without its own cost does it?"

The girl felt a pleasant feeling grow in her stomach. She wasn't use to being valued much. Usually it was her own fault.

"Thank you," she said softly, actually meaning the words, "I enjoy speaking with you too Headmistress."

She shook her head. "No it doesn't. They want me to turn a whole bunch of paper into jewels saying, 'it is recycling.' Or they want me to give one of my students, for their protection." She shook her head. "Or Lauren seeing the future for them. You basically get the point." She smiled wryly.

"No problem. And thank you." She gave a smile to the girl.

"Oh the world we live in," she gave a bitter little sigh. "Well, you ever want to get them off your back, next time they ask for a student give 'em me; I'll change their minds."

She was only half joking.

She gave a little nod in responce.

She was tempted to introduce them to Faye.. but it wouldn't be right. "I wish." She grumbled. "Oh how I wish."

She sighed. "So, come up with new punishments for students this year?" She asked. She had heard many times how Faye's punishments was cruel; at least to them. To her they sounded reasonable.

Faye smirked slight, "I can't tell you that. It has to be a surprised, to everyone."

Including herself. Faye didn't really plan such things. It was more that she just did whatever stuck her fancy at that moment.
