Shaking, Clementine knocked on the door to the Headmistress' office, a letter clutched in her hand. She looked down at it for the eleventh time that day.

Dear Miss C Browne,
We are sorrowful to inform you that Mr Stephen Browne died approximately forty-one minutes ago. It has come to our attention that he had had a fatal muggle illness known as Cancer for a long time, but had kept it quiet until the disease became serious.
You are currently located at Alecto, Wizarding School For All. It has been decided that, due to the circumstances, you may be excused from school for a period of one to two weeks to be with family and attend your lost one's funeral.

At first sight, Clementine had been irritated that they had used her 'real' surname. Browne didn't suit her, she preferred Smith. But when she had read the contents of the letter... She shook her head and knocked again.
