Lesson 1 (First years)

"Arrogant much? The only Black I've heard here if you, and I've checked the student list...When do you think the lesson will start, anyway? Half an hour of so?" she looked doubtfully at the teacher, "I think there's something wrond with all the teachers here... Like statues..."

"I have intellect. But can someone tell me what it means?" He asked sriously.

"She's not a student. She's way older than me. Elena's her name. You should check on the adult list." I turned to Alex. "Intellect? Wow, I've never been asked for a definition before! Huh, help?" I asked Darcie.

"Elena Black? The Death Eater?" she asked incredulously, "How is she anywhere near here?"

"Intellect: the amount or level of knowledge one has. Not necessarily the same thing as wisdom though intellectual people may be wise. Intellect can be gained in a matter of ways such as personal study, life lessons, or attending a school. An intellectual person knows he or she has intellect and knows how to use it. Intellect is a noun as well," Darcie said as if she were reading straight from an encyclopedia, which she wasn't."I'm sorry if that was hard to understand. I couldn't attend a school in Dublin and the matrons never taught us so I had to teach myself everything I know. Its the only reason I know and can speak English."

Darcie's eyes widened and looked somewhat scared and worried at the thought of being near a death eater."How do you know she's a death eater?"

"Heard of her," Clementine replied darkly "In some book about the Dark Lord after the Second Wizarding War."

Darcie bit her lip as she considered the matter."Well...maybe she's not working for the dark lord? One never knows..." Darcie said optimistically, albeit somewhat frightened. There were many things that scared Darcie and death eaters were certainly one of them.

"Hm... Well, nobody knows with Lord What's-His-Name..."

I rolled my eyes. "Can't you just say his name? The Taboo doesn't work anymore and besides he already knows some of us wish to fight him. I call him Voldemort."

Darcie flinched slightly at the mention of the dark lords name. She recovered quickly though and said, "Well, if she's here, that means Headmistress Dareena trusts her. I trust headmistress Dareena so maybe Elena isn't that bad." Darcie herself thought that this might be a bit too optimistic, but she did trust her headmistress's judgement.

"You know Severus' Snape story? I know he wasn't bad at all in the end, and right now I'm seriously thinking about creating a fanclub for him, but I doubt there are a lot of people who act bad being good being bad, you know what I mean? That's just too...scary." Then I bit my finger. "Besides, you'd see Elena for real, you wouldn't find her sympathetic...at all."

"Yes, I see what you mean. I just...I don't want to be too quick to judge someone I've never seen and who might not even be here. I'll just wait and see," Darcie said. She knew what it felt like to be judged before people even met her and she wasn't about to become a hypocrite.

I sighed. "I'm sorry, Darcie. I know I can sound like a bad girl sometimes, but I just-" I looked at the ceiling. "I guess my childhood made me dread anyone looking at me with quizzical eyes." I sighed again. "Everyone in my family's a Death Eater. Except me. I'm the only "good" Black left alive. Let's say that pushes me to be careful."

Clementine smiled sadly. She wasn't scared very much of Voldemort, it just didn't feel right saying his name. She had a strange habit of not being scared of most 'scary' things, but was scared of most things normal people wouldn't take a second glance at. For instance, she was scared of heights.

She let Darcie and Anadora have their conversation, and leaned backwards on her seat in boredom.

"I hate the dark lord. But sometimes I just think we should give up the fight and let him control us. At least then my dad would be with me." He sighed as he admitted one of his deepest secrets.

I cut dead my conversation with Darcie when I heard Alex whispering. I could hear everything clearer than anyone else, thanks to my super-ears.
"You shouldn't say things like that. You can't say things like that. It would be irrespectuous of what they achieved for us. They fought for us, some died for us to keep living with their memories. You can't screw it up." Then I put a hand on his shoulder. "If you pass on the dark side, I will feel like I have to follow you there. You can't take care of yourself quite." I sighed as if annoyed. "We really should get these lessons started. I'm getting tired of waiting to know how to blow my great-aunt/great-cousin's head up."

Darcie resisted the urge to hit Alex upside the head. Instead she spoke calmly, "I must agree with Ana, Alex, though I...I've thought the same thing sometimes. But Ana's right; we can't let anyone, not Ron, not Harry, not my parents, not Ana's and not your dad. We will beat him someday," Darcie said looking fiercely into Alex's eyes."But for now, we must do whatever it is we are doing with these feathers. Baby steps you know."

"Very small baby steps," Clementine commented shooting sparks from her wand and burning her feather, "Oops,"

"Well then the kids with massive legs are gonna have problems." He chuckled.

I rolled my eyes and estinguisted the fire of Clementine's feather. "It's not like any of us has already practised some tricks, but now I really am getting bored."

"How could you get bored? I'm here." He chuckled.

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, you're so entertaining." Then I looked around the room to find something interesting to do. Nothing. "Is that normal we're only four to get this class? I thought we were much more..." I then spotted that the door had remained open since Alex got back in. "Is there something interesting out there, darling?" I pushed on the darling and winked. Yeah, right, childish am I not?

"Unless you call a massive fight intresting then no." He smiled blushing slightly.

"A massive fight? I'm in!" I got up and hurryly got out of the room to try and spot the fight Alex was talking about. I didn't want to join, Hell no, but my Grandmother used to say that it was always better to see how the enemy was doing before pulling up a front fight.

"I got you." He laughed pointing at the empty corridor.
